Political issues:

UK is the of the fourth largest nation in the world in terms of food production manufacturing. Currently, the UK food supply chain represents 6.8% of the Gross value added and it’s valued at £107 billion. In the food industry in the UK totaled 4 million jobs are created and 5, 00,000 people are employed in farming and fishing. 4, 00,000 people are employed in food manufacturing (Caplan., 2017). Interesting fact is that UK is producing food items on a large scale by it important raw items from foreign nations on large scale. 50% of raw items that are used to produce edible items are imported from the foreign nations.

UK before BREXIT was in the safe zone as it does not need to keep stock for long time period. It keeps a stock of just 10 days in its warehouse. Due to membership of the EU it was easy to acquire raw items at cheaper rate. Labor were also available at cheaper rates from other EU nations. After BREXIT many people that belong to the EU nations leave the UK. This lead to shortage of labor in the UK for agriculture (Food politics and policies in post Brexit Britain., 2019). This may negatively affect UK agriculture industry and is one of main political issue.

Before BREXIT EU’s common agricultural policy control UK farming practices and provide ₤2. 3 million subsidy each year. Now, after BREXIT, such kind of subsidies is not received by the farmers. These significantly affect their farming practices and production of agriculture products in the UK (Davies, 2019). Many of them do not know what to produce or quit from such kind of business. If such kind of situation remains, then export of agriculture products will decline. The UK Government does not respond to such kind of things and this is negatively affecting UK food industry.

Now, people in the UK like to buy products that are rich in vitamin, mineral and protein. People look for nutrition then flavor and price. This is the reason due to which many companies are preparing to add value to their products.
