Executive summary:

Managing project teams are also the essential roles of the project managers in managing the performance of the project. It had considered that the study had selected the two case studies in which one relates to leaders role in performance and second relates to leadership styles being the success factors. Both the case studies had shown the importance of leadership in managing the teams in projects. It is also seen that leadership is itself the skill that is presented in the manager of the project to deal to diverse group of people working under one project. The roles, styles and skills had been represented as the important aspects for leadership in changing nature of projects.

Evaluation of the criteria for selecting case studies:

It is the procedure of evaluating the single projects to choose the ones to be executed so that broad objectives of the firm can be achieved. The criteria selected for choosing the project are same to the criteria applied for making the choice in any other business aspects. The individuals can select to apply various criteria to decide on projects to be carried out. The similar approaches might be applied in prioritizing projects instead of selecting them (Yarbrough et.al. 2010). It had been identified that there are two criteria’s to select the case studies for evaluation. The feasibility and utility of evaluation for individual project is to be done in order to understand the reason for selecting the two case studies.

In concern with the first project that deals with the leadership role in improving performance of the project.
It is been evaluated that the module deals with managing project team therefore it is important to look on the aspects of leadership role as it is the main skill required in the manager of project. The benefits of this project are that it gives learning to the managers to motivate the people and create the better environment to meet the challenges in the team (Anantatmula, 2010). The leadership is concern as the determinant of progress as it gives the vision and capability to cope with the changes to the team. The leaders for suitable team management also needs to look on the development of clear communication, defining responsibilities, communicating expectations from team, employing continuous procedure, developing trust, facilitating support and managing outcomes.

It is also examined that if the project manager makes the use of leadership activities they can increase the performance of the project by giving superior deliverables. On the other side, the main limitations evaluated with respect to first project is that in case of global projects, the leaders cannot manage the teams effectively even with having such skills due to communication issues and cultural diversity. Further, the leadership and technological roles can be varied relying on disposition of characteristics of project and the sector in which project is implemented (Chiocchio et.al. 2010). Further, leadership roles might be particular to the industry because of varying industry specific working culture and competitive surroundings.

 

 

 

Conclusion:

From the study, it can be concluded that case studies taken had been revolving around leadership concept and approaches they use in managing teams in projects. It had been find out those roles of leaders generates the higher performance of the project if used in the correct way. The study shown that people oriented factors gives the better performance in the project by the teams that overall supports in achieving objectives. The leadership styles had been laid out by covering different leadership schools in the study. Some of the recommendations are been provided such as leadership skills, styles and role modification for being ensuring the better management of team.
