Introduction
The body shell of a car is considered as the vehicle’s functional backbone. Producing the body shell of a car is one of the most challenging elements of the car design. This involves the entry shape of a vehicle, style as well as form. As stated by Donniciet al.(2020), the ultimate aims of developing the body shell of a vehicle are to manufacture it with a light design, including crash safety, excellent rigidity as well as lower levels of vibration and noise. These considerations help in manufacturing a car with excellent handling features and lightweight index. New structural concepts, as well as the specific measurement of NVH, help in achieving the new heights of dynamic rigidity for the car manufacturers. This study outlines the design and production of a non-structural body shell for an RC Buggy car or street racing car. Thus, this report covers the design tools, design sketches, final design details, metrology and marketing of the car.
Use of design tools:
QFD
This is referred to as the structured approach where customer requirements are taken and those are translated into some specific plans to meet those needs. According to Yazdani et al.(2019), quality function deployment underpins the voice of the customer where their requirements are prioritized, and proper planning is done for the project. For this street racing car manufacturing project, nine requirements of the customers are considered, and planning are made as per. This is as follows.
Conclusion
It can be concluded that this study is about designing an RC buggy car and evaluating the design as per the requirement of the customers. The QFD as well as concept selection process is described along with the templates for the manufacturing of the street racing car. Thus the design has been made as per the requirement of the customers. The final design detail is described with the designing components such as the materials, manufacturing and the style of the car. The specification of the cars is thus described, and technical elements are described. The design of the car is, therefore aligned with the requirement of the customers that are gathered in the QFD. The priority and customer demands are also recorded in the pugh matrix or concept selection matrix. The critical dimension of the car is also provided here that is going to be followed while manufacturing. Moreover, the marketing process of the car is explained, and the potential buyers of the cars are identified. The unique selling propositions are also described for the street racing car.
